  1. If the Arctic ice hits the satellite record average and stays there for any significant length of time, it will be an “emperor has no clothes moment”. It would be a simple point that can be communicated easily and which the larger public will notice and understand. Furthermore, given how much has been psychologically invested in Arctic ice, there will no easy way to pass it off.
