“Scientists warned British ministers 22 years ago their planned “dash for diesel” could cause a public health disaster, but were ignored because the then government believed climate change was more important”

“It said that although diesel produced less of the key greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide), it produced more of the toxic nitrogen dioxide and particulates that damage health.

It added: “The impact of diesel vehicles on urban air quality is a serious one. Any increase in the proportion of diesel vehicles on urban streets is to be viewed with concern unless problems of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides emissions are addressed.”

Moose and Morons in Minnesota

“(Reuters) – The population of moose in northeastern Minnesota dropped by 35 percent since last year, prompting state officials to cancel this year’s fall hunt and conservationists to blame warming temperatures for the massive creature’s decline.”

“Doug Inkley, a wildlife biologist and senior scientist at the National Wildlife Federation, said climate change is a factor.”

“MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Scientists are trying to figure out why the moose population in Minnesota has gone down as much as 65 percent.

The answers aren’t good news.

The Minnesota DNR captured 49 moose calves and fitted them with GPS transmitter collars. Days after finishing their work, 22 of the newborn moose had already died.

The DNR said most were killed by bears and wolves.”
