In 2012 the Arctic ice extent *reached the mean in April* and had the very low minimum in September.
The point at which the minimum is occurring is also starting earlier each year, showing that the ice is, in fact, recovering its previous levels (1980’s and 90’s) since 2007, despite the great oscillations of each year or from one year to the next.
Yes Arctic ice is cyclical, and since 2007 it has risen a little instead declining as in the previous decade. MASIE end of September results put this in perspective.

This is also happening at the same time that the AMO is beginning to descend to negative phase again and neutron count is back to 2010 levels already,
