If things hold (and they may not), day 253 (two days ago) will be the Arctic minimum for 2017.

That would still be only the 8th lowest.

  2. In other words it’s still safe to say that there’s zero risk 2017 will be anywhere close to 2012’s record low extent, or that there will be an ice-free Arctic. Right. Notify the news media that another of Al Gore’s and Bill McKibben’s predictions is bust.
