Sea Ice Update July 5 2014 – Antarctica Smashes Old Record By 400,000 sq km

A quick update for sea ice extent for day 185 of 2014

  • Global Sea Ice Extent is 187,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean. That is ranked 15 for the day. Still above normal!
  • Antarctic Sea Ice Extent is 1,521,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean. That is ranked 1 for the day. That smashes the old daily record by 400,000 sq km
  • Arctic Sea Ice Extent is -1,335,000 sq km below the 1981-2010 mean. That is ranked 32 for the day.

  1. The “Ozone Hole” appears to be created and destroyed by UV from the Sun. The “Freon Boys” have failed in their attempt to control the “hole” via limiting the most efficient refrigerant liquid/gas. The “Ozone Hole” is nearly as big as in the1970s.

Note: The lack of Ozone allows a transparent radiation window into space for infrared.

OK. No UV, no Ozone in Antarctica, greatly reduced energy from the Sun, -> massive increases in Ice Extent.

I am predicting that this year’s anomaly will exceed 2.5 M km2. Next years anomaly will exceed 3.2 M km2.

Hang-on, the deep freeze is upon us. Maybe the Russians, Canadians, and Norwegians will need to move South!!

Oh, the Aussie’s that complained about the heat; lets see what they say about the COLD.
