Sea Ice Extent – Day 271 – Antarctic Recovery – Up 520,000 sq km in 3 Days

Try to ignore the strange data day and notice that Antarctica Sea Ice has risen 520,000 sq km in 3 days and would be the highest for the year if not for the day 266 value of 20.723 million sq km.

  1. I would very much doubt a half million square kilometers of ice can form in 3 days. There is clearly an algorithm glitch for what it considers sea ice that may be linked to it being attached to the continent whereby free ice bergs are not counted. As calving occurs, huge dips in count occurs, and if wind pushes some back to the continental or connected sea ice, then it shoots up.
