Arctic has gone higher than it was in 2016 on day 47.

  1. What’s the mean for day 47? As I can see it, there’s about 1 million sq km difference between the mean and today’s reading. Why is it that all we’ve heard about this year’s Arctic sea ice extent has to do with the record low in November? Has there ever been any value to readings other than the September and March peak/trough? Why, then, has the rhetoric focused on November if not for propagating the “the Arctic is melting!” meme?
