Antarctica is now 13th lowest for the day. 150,000 sq km inside the 1 STD.
I wonder whether the oscillations will dampen down and go back to the miniscule ones of the late 80s or just keep getting bigger?

Any speculation as to why the 1980’s had little variation and recent years have had significant variation?
My guess. We know the cycle is probably 70 years. So I’m guess the cycle goes from little variation to lots of variation and back. Depending on AMO/PDO.
The earliest part of the graph (the beginning of satellite era) has larger oscillations and would have had even larger as you moved back in time if the satellites had been up earlier..
