26th Daily Record of Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent (3rd in a row)

August 21 (Day 233) saw the 25th Daily Record of the Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent. This was the 3rd record in a row.

Day 233 Sea Ice Extent was 990,000 sq km higher than the 30 year mean.

  1. Let’s see, if you look at the when the peak ice takes place, it’s usually around the 3rd week in Sept. and it looks like Antarctica is on track for an all time high. The first draft of the AR5 report comes out about a week later beeting the drum with the usual alarms. The headlines from mother nature’s news should make for some interesting shuffling when the IPCC presser comes out..
