You say 14th highest but 2014 is in second place for the highest ever sea ice extent year in sat history, right? 2013 is #1 and 2012 is now in third place as of today..?

Also sea ice extent has never been recorded this high for the date so another daily record is set again.

  I believe that he is saying only 13 days in 2013 were higher than we are today. So in that respect, today is the 14th highest.

    Correct. Today is the 14th highest day. 2012’s maximum is now only the 15th highest.
