The data I get has a field called Missing. It is usually 0. For day 218 it is not zero. But only in the South.
Probably bad data … or maybe the good data snuck out.

What if some new guy actually posted the real data by mistake? They are trying to the fact that an ice age cometh anon.
Doh! That should read “…trying to hide the fact…”
Odd that both poles should jump like that, it certainly suggests that the data was not “Quality Controlled” before being issued.
The National Snow & Ice Data Centre (NSIDC) reports that they are having problems with a satellite.
They show the same anomalous spikes in both their Arctic and Antarctic data.
