Canada No Longer Publishes Sunshine Data

This annoys me so I bring it up every once in a while.

Could global warming be caused because of more sunshine? In Canada, we’ll never know. The stopped collecting that data in 2015.

Here are three graphs. One shows the number of weather stations (half of what there used to be) and one shows the number collecting sunshine data. A 3rd graph shows what you can do with UK sunshine data.

  1. The UK graph would be consistent with Svensmark’s theory of clouds affecting climate by reducing sunshine.

  2. Thanks Sunshine for more light on the subject. Thanks FC @1:15AM for reminding me of Svensmark’s work.
I wonder if the Met Office in UK will stop their reporting. I need to dig in to their data sources to see how they get their data.

  3. It looks to me as though Canadian officials are content with relying more on infill algorithms than actual raw data. Convenient for skewing the result you want the public to see, or am I just being paranoid?
