November 16th 2013 (Day 320) saw the 50th Daily Record for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent in a row! It was also the 104th daily record for 2013.
I thought this graph would show 2013 below the 2010 line, but melting slowed from 150,000 sq km per day to 80,000 sq km and then 20,000 sq km per day in the last 2 days.

October 18th (Day 291) saw the 21st Daily Record for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent in a row! It was also the 75th daily record for 2013.

There are only 73 days left in the year so I’m not sure if 2013 can set a record for most daily records. It has a chance at coming 2nd. And considering how far above the previous years records (400,000 sq km) anything could happen.

Antarctica Sea Ice Extent took an unexpected 50,000 sq km jump yesterday. It was the 3rd highest extent of all-time.
The top 5 Antarctic Sea Ice Extents of all-time all occurred since Sept 14th 2013. 10 out of the top 15 were in 2013. The remaining 5 occurred in 2012.
2013 has also set 55 daily records.

Antarctica Sea Ice Extent set another all-time record of 19.51394 million sq km on Sept 22 2013.
The old record was 19.51234 million sq km which was set on September 14 2013 (Day 257).
The record was broken by .00264 million sqk km.

Sept 20th (Day 263) Antarctic Sea Ice Extent set its 52nd daily record for the year. (12th in a row) Of course Antarctic Sea Ice hit an all-time record on the 14th.
Antarctic Sea Ice gained 31,000 sq km on day 263. It also looks like there is a decent chance of a new all-time record on day 264 or day 265. 2012 had a double peak.

Sept 19th (Day 261) Antarctic Sea Ice Extent set its 50th daily record for the year. Of course Antarctic Sea Ice hit an all-time record on the 14th.
The last two days have also seen a small ice gain of 13,000 and 3,000 sq km. and it is 980,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean.

But Sept 15th (Day 258) also saw the 47th Daily Record of the Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent (even though it was the first ice loss in 9 days).

September 11th (Day 254) saw the 43rd Daily Record of the Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent. So far, 2013 would be the 3rd highest maximum of All Time behind 2012 and 2006.
2012’s maximum was 19.47713 million sq km
2006’s maximum was 19.35934 million sq km
2013’s maximum so far is 19.35119 million sq km
