Antarctic Sea Ice Minimum Trend Climbing at 140,000 sq km per decade!

Antarctic Sea Ice Minimum Trend is climbing at 140,000 sq km per decade!

After declaring Antarctic had the 2nd highest minimum of all time I thought I should graph the trend.

Wow. At this rate Antarctic Sea Ice minimum will just keep growing and growing until you can’t get near Antarctica by ship at all! (probably not but it is fun to claim).

2nd Highest Antarctic Sea Ice Minimum Of All Time!

Update: See the trend here.

It is very likely 2013 will go down in the history books as having the 2nd highest Antarctic sea ice minimum of all time. In 2013 there was 1.4 million sq km more sea ice than there was in 1997 at minimum.

How Do You Miss A 10,000 Tonne Meteorite?

Q: How Do You Miss A 10,000 Tonne Meteorite?

A: You Squander Trillions on fixing “Dangerous” Global Warming even if the warming paused 16 years ago.

30 Hiroshima Bombs

“The meteor explosion appears to be one of the most stunning cosmic events above Russia since the 1908 Tunguska Event in which a massive blast most scientists blame on an asteroid or a comet ripped through Siberia.
Russian scientists were initially reported to have estimated its mass to be around 10 tonnes, but Nasa later claimed it was considerably larger with a mass closer to 10,000 tonnes.”

You know, if I was as deranged as one of the AGW cult leaders, I would be crying about how sad it was that all those people in Russia survived and ruined a great opportunity to shame the world into ACTION and pass a global meteorite tax to raise money for asteroid detection.

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent – 3rd Record For A Day

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent day 46 was the 3rd record for most ice on this day in 2013. Day 43 and 45 were also records.

There is a fair chance that day for 44 was the minimum for 2013, but we won’t know for a few days. 2008 (purple) dipped after appearing to hit minimum.

If day 44 was the minimum, it would be the 2nd earliest minimum ever (after 1993 day 43) and the highest minimum ever.

NOAA finally has the January 2013 USA 48 data out.

January 2013 is ranked 81 out of 119.

38 January’s were warmer.

University of Washington Team Beclowns Themselves Over 2012 Arctic Cyclone

A “team” of “University” of Washington “scientists” have beclowned themselves trying to claim the massive 2012 Arctic Cycle did not speed up the ice melt.

Their argument comes down to: “By September, most of the ice that melted would have melted with or without the cyclone.”

If you take two ice cubes and smash one into tiny pieces, which one melts first?  The smashed one of course.

But the ice BESIDE the smashed ice would also melt quicker because the smashed ice would have provided support and cold/insulation if it had not been smashed.

For those of us old enough to remember fridge freezers that ice up and did not defrost themselves, we remember smashing as much ice with knives or screwdrivers to expose ice further back so it could melt sooner.

The UW team should be ashamed of themselves.

Antarctic Sea Ice Sets Record For Most Ice On This Day

UPDATE 2: And Another.

UPDATE: Another record.

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent set a record on day 43 (Feb 12 2013) for most ever on this day. at 3.80037 million sq km.

The old record was in 2008. The record for most ice ever at minimum was also in 2008. 3.69176 million sq km. There is a decent chance that record will be broken.

Antarctic Sea Ice 24% Above Average (and only 8300 sq km short of a record)

UPDATE: The next day set a record.

Antarctic Sea Ice on day 42 (Feb 11 2013) is  24% above average (770,000 sq km) and and only 8300 sq km short of a record.

There is a chance of an all-time record of the highest minimum ever in the coming days. The record is from 2008 – 3.69176 million sq km – on day 51.
