The data is from the monthly summaries put out by Environment Canada.
Snowfall is in cm. About 2.5cm to the inch for the non-metric.
Many of these stations are new and only 2 or 4 years of data. But Edmonton Woodbend has 40 years of data and broke the old record by 19.5cm.

The question now is how soon will it melt and farmers can get in to the fields to plant crops?
88 years of data for Midale, and yet they still broke a record!
On a side note, Environment Canada has changed the names of quite a few of their airports lately. For example, “Williams Lake A” is now simply called “Williams Lake.” This creates a problem when comparing the new “Williams Lake” to the old “Williams Lake” station that was around 60 years ago because the airport is more than 1,000 feet higher than the city. To highlight the difference 1,000 feet makes, Environment Canada lists Williams Lake as having the 10th coolest summer in Canada (of 100 cities), but if they were to use the “Williams Lake River” station at the valley bottom, Williams Lake would be ranked as one of the 25 warmest cities in Canada. A similar trend exists for snowfall, with the airport receiving more than twice the valley bottom’s snowfall.
Thanks for the info. I noticed they were bringing in new stations.
A side note: In the older monthly summaries, weather for a couple of german sites were included because of the bases there. For some reason this months summary had data for SIOUX FALLS CLIMATE in South Dakota.
I was trying to find out the max temp for each province and wondered why I’d never heard of Province Code SD before.
I sure hope they add a few more stations back because there were only 12 in the entire province of BC that recorded annual precipitation in 2012 (at one time there used to be more than 400 stations in the province)… http://forums.castanet.net/download/file.php?id=13879
