Aug 4 2014 Sea Ice Data — No Updates

UPDATE: Antarctic and Arctic has been published. MASIE is still one day behind.

There have been no updates to NSIDC/NOAA Antarctic Sea Ice Extent for three days. Arctic Data is late for today. And MASIE did update their data, but it is one day older than it should be.

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent Aug 1 2014 – 1,136,000 sq km Above Normal – 134th Daily Record

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent is 1,136,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean. That is the 134th daily record for the year.

The lowest extent for this day was 16.2 million sq km in 1985. In 2014 it is 18.1 million sq km. A 1.9 million sq km difference.

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent July 31 2014 – 1,110,000 sq km Above Normal – 133rd Daily Record

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent is 1,110,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean. That is the 133rd daily record for the year.

An interesting note: Both 2013 (black line) and 2012 (orange line) set all time maximum records … yet were 900,000 sq km apart at this day.

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent July 29 2014 – Zigzag – 131st Daily Record

Antarctic Sea Ice Extent is 1,107,000 sq km above the 1981-2010 mean.

After dropping 90,000 sq km two days ago, ice extent rose 100,000 sq km the next day.

131 daily records in 2014. And 209 out of 209 in the top 5.

Sea Ice Data is late today – July 29 2014

Update: Arctic/Antarctic have appeared. MASIE is still one day old.

Normally the NSIDC Sea Ice Data is posted on their site at 6:51am Pacific Time.

Some days it is late or isn’t updated until the next day.

The MASIE data gets updated about 7:17am Pacific. It was updated … but it the previous days data.
