NOAA – 1913 Low Min Records Broken (272 tied) From 2015-02-19 to 2015-02-25

UPDATE #2 – Even more records have been broken.

UPDATE: I also have a blog post on the LOW MAX records.

1913 Low Min Records Broken in Last 7 Days (272 tied)  according to the NOAA.

Below is a screenshot showing location and the biggest difference between old record and new record.

The list is just the ones I could capture in a screenshot. Wow. Many records broken by over 30F.

Imagine … the old record was 15F and it is now -23F. A 38F difference.

Mastodons Killed By Climate Change: They Froze To Death

“Despite popular belief that North American mastodons were hunted to extinction by Ice Age humans, a new Canadian-led study is claiming that the prehistoric beasts simply froze to death.

“To think of scattered populations of Ice Age people with primitive technology driving huge animals to extinction, to me is almost silly,” said Grant Zazula, chief paleontologist for the Yukon Territory and the study’s lead author.

What the research found was that mastodons died out in the Yukon and Alaska long before humans were even on the scene. Not only that, but northern mastodons died out a full 65,000 years before their cousins in warmer climes to the south.”

Warmer Winters Saves Lives

The lowest ever number of winter deaths was recorded last year, official figures for England and Wales show.

An estimated 18,200 excess winter deaths occurred in 2013-14, the lowest number since records began in 1950-51.

Last winter was notably warmer than in previous years and had a relatively mild flu season which contributed to the lower number of deaths.”

NOAA – 1695 Low Max Records Broken or Tied From Sept 11 to Sept 20. One record broken by 25F

Wow. One record was broken by 25F!!!!

1695 Low Max Records Broken or  Tied From Sept 11 to Sept 20 according to the NOAA.

A “Low Max” means that the maximum temperatures for the day was the lowest it has ever been. This indicates daytime cooling.

63% of Plants Prefer It To Be Warmer!!!!!!!

This is huge. And logical. Only idiots thought plants prefer freezing to death.

“Not all species flee rising temperatures. As the mercury has inched upward across western North America over the last 40 years, many plant species have moved downhill, toward—not away from—warmer climates, according to the results of a new study.

The finding adds to growing evidence that temperature isn’t the only factor influencing how Earth’s life will respond to climate change.”

Isn’t that last sentence hilarious? “Temperature isn’t the only factor …’ Well DUH! But unfortunately the AGW cult has twisted science so much that many are surprised that plants might like it warmer than colder.

“The results of the analysis were unexpected. More than 60% of plants shifted their distributions downward, toward warmer, lower elevations—despite significant climate warming across the regions under study, the team reported online on 24 July in Global Change Biology. Even more striking, all plants within a region—regardless of species—moved in the same direction.”

What a shocker eh? Given a choice between the cold of the 1970s, plants like it warmer. Who would have thought? …. Only people with a brain thought that!
