-15C Cold Anomalies 12x More Likely Than +15C Hot Anomalies in Canada

Update: Clarified these are monthly average anomalies – not daily anomalies.

Environment Canada has Normals for some of its stations. They get a calculated anomaly in relation to the 1971-2000 average.

193 stations have had a monthly anomaly of -15C or lower. 51 of those occurred in 1936.

Only 16 stations have had a monthly anomaly of +15C or higher. None of those have occurred since 1994. (See below)

Germans and Greeks Stealing Trees To Keep Warm

Germany:

“With energy costs escalating, more Germans are turning to wood burning stoves for heat. That, though, has also led to a rise in tree theft in the country’s forests. Woodsmen have become more watchful.”

Greece:

“Greeks, desperate to find fuel to stay warm because they can’t afford heating oil that has been hit with big tax increases, have been taking to the woods and even city parks to cut down trees and now authorities said someone has felled the olive tree under which Plato sat in ancient times.”

(h/t Ice Age Now)

This is your future. Huddled around wood stoves to keep warm  because electricity is too expensive because of subsidies paid to rich people who own wind farms and solar panels.

That is the 2nd largest increase ever for this day 17.

Windfarms – Licence To Kill Eagles

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Federal officials have decided to let a proposed southeastern Minnesota wind farm pursue a permit that would allow for accidental deaths and injuries of bald eagles.

The worst-case scenario is that eight to 15 bald eagles per year would die as a result of the 48-turbine project New Era Wind Farm near Red Wing, the Fish and Wildlife Service said in a letter to state regulators Wednesday. Hundreds of thousands of birds die each year while flying through wind farms nationwide.

I highlighted the term worst-case scenario for the obvious reason it is a bald faced lie. A 2x larger wind farm in Ontario killed 1900 birds and bats in a 6 month period.

Wind Farms are an environmentalist / AGW cult approved mass bird slaughtering mechanism.

They should be ashamed. But they are liars and con men. And licensed to kill.

Sunshine Way Up in USA From 1996 to 2011

“A paper published today in the Journal of Geophysical Research – Atmospheres finds that due to a decrease in cloud cover, solar radiation has significantly increased over the US from 1996 to 2011. The authors note the change in longwave (infrared) surface radiation “dwarfs the [alleged contribution] from the increase of CO2 during the analysis period.” According to the paper, the natural variability due to changes in sunshine has had 4.4 times greater effect on surface radiation than increased greenhouse gases since 1996″

Read the rest at The Hockey Schtick.

As I’ve said numerous times, clean air legislation has cleaned the air, meaning less sunshine is reflected back into space, and more sunshine reaches the ground and causes warming.

Wind Farms and Environmentalists are Genocidal Mass Murderers

Pure evil. Species that have survived 10 – 20 ice ages are being driven to extinction by wind farms and environmentalists.

“Between 6-18 million birds and bats are killed by Spanish wind farms each year Hambler says, including 400 griffon vultures per year just at Navarro. German wind turbines kill at least 200,000 bats per year, depressing populations up to 2,000 miles away. Wind turbines in the U.S. have been estimated to kill 70 bats per installed megawatt per year, on average, says Hambler. That would work out to about 320,000 bats per year in California.”

Why is the public not more aware of this carnage? First, because the wind industry (with the shameful complicity of some ornithological organisations) has gone to great trouble to cover it up — to the extent of burying the corpses of victims. Second, because the ongoing obsession with climate change means that many environmentalists are turning a blind eye to the ecological costs of renewable energy. What they clearly don’t appreciate — for they know next to nothing about biology — is that most of the species they claim are threatened by ‘climate change’ have already survived 10 to 20 ice ages, and sea-level rises far more dramatic than any we have experienced in recent millennia or expect in the next few centuries. Climate change won’t drive those species to extinction; well-meaning environmentalists might.

Canada – Dec 2012 – 25 Coldest Stations – Whitehorse was 13.2C colder than normal

Update: See comments. Whitehorse was closer to -7C  to -8C colder than normal. Still top 3 in Canada for December 2012.

These are the 25 coldest stations (of the ones Environment Canada thinks are worth calculating anomalies for) in Canada for Dec 2012. The anomaly is calculated from the 1971-2000 normals.

13.2C colder than normal for Whitehorse Airport. Yukon data scraped from here.

Any mention in the news? You would think it would make the news wouldn’t you?

Kyoto Has Saved The World!

Kyoto was not a failure. The CBC are being pessimists.

The controversial and ineffective Kyoto Protocol’s first stage comes to an end today, leaving the world with 58 per cent more greenhouse gases than in 1990, as opposed to the five per cent reduction its signatories sought.

From the beginning, the treaty that was adopted in 1997 in Kyoto, Japan …

Lets connect the dots. Warming stopped in 1997. Kyoto was adopted in 1997. CO2 is up 58%. Signing the Kyoto has stopped global warming. More CO2 is irrelevant. The very act of creating a treaty stopped the warming.

Kyoto has saved the world!

🙂

Dirty Truth About Wood-Burning Biomass

“Far from being “carbon neutral,” wood-burning biomass actually emits more carbon dioxide (the primary global warming greenhouse gas) per unit of energy produced than either gas or coal. Yes, trees can grow back and reabsorb that carbon, but that growth takes many years. The most recent studies show that

The renewability of wood is also questionable, as forests would be threatened by any meaningful increase in electricity generation using biomass as fuel. Replacing just 10 percent of the coal used in Pennsylvania would require more than 12.8 million green tons of wood per year — far more than the state’s annual commercial wood harvest (about 5 million tons).

Read more here.

SaveTheCoal

CO2 from Wood/Biomass is worse than Coal

The new trendy fuel being proposed to replace the EPA/Hansen vilified coal is wood and/or biomass.

One biomass power plant “will emit 1,732 tons per day of carbon dioxide to produce 380,000 MWh of power annually, an emission rate of 3,327 lbs of CO2/MWh. For comparison carbon dioxide emission rates are 2,117 lbs/MWh for existing coal plants,  1,314 lbs/MWh for existing gas plants
and 760 lbs/MWh for new power plants.”

Lets put that in a table.

Fuel lbs of CO2/Megawatt Hour
Biomass 3,327
Coal 2,117
Older Natural Gas 1,314
New Natural Gas 760

“wood fueled biomass power plants emit about 50% more CO2 per MWh than existing coal plants, 150% more than existing natural gas plants and 330% more than new gas power plants.”

Thats right. Biomass/Wood produce 330% more CO2 than a new super-efficient natural gas power plant burning natural gas. And thanks to fracking the gas is super-cheap.

If you believe in the “CO2 will end the world scam”, then please fight hard against wood and biomass power plants. And fight hard for new natural gas power plants.

If you don’t believe, then laugh at the idiots who do. And tell them the truth.

If you are against fracking, and for biomass/wood power planets, you hate the planet.
