Could CO2 have lowered the rate of natural warming?

Lets say you have a pot of water that is warming, but you can’t see underneath it. There is a thermometer in the pot, and intermittently you write down the temperature.

And at some point some people come up with a theory that suggests a 2nd candle is now adding its energy to the pot of water. So what are you going to do?

Well, one way is to take the temperature data and graph it and calculate the trend before and after the supposed appearance of the 2nd candle. The change in trend is possibly the extra energy added by the 2nd candle.

Of course the analogy is really about CO2. So lets pick say … 1945 as the supposed appearance of the 2nd candle (CO2).

Why 1945? That is when CO2 really took off. Here is the CDIAC data in million metric tons of CO2.

CDIAC-co2

And here is the data graphed. 1900 to 1945 in red. And 1945 to 2014 in blue. With trends.  I used Woodfortrees for the graph and here is the url.

Candle_1945_2014

So … what are the trends.

1900 to 1945 = 0.0110866C / Year

1945 to 2014 = 0.00954579 / Year

I conclude the 2nd candle actually changed the trend downward by 0.00154081C / Year.

Maybe it wasn’t a candle? Maybe it was an ice cube.

I think only conspiracy theorists could come up with a 2nd candle theory when the trend actually went down.

Climate Alarmist Backfire: People Buying SUV’s So They Can Cope With ‘Extreme’ Weather

I see that the NY Times isn’t quite as thick as they used to be in this article about climate alarmist tactics backfiring.

“But there is every reason to believe that efforts to raise public concern about climate change by linking it to natural disasters will backfire. More than a decade’s worth of research suggests that fear-based appeals about climate change inspire denial, fatalism and polarization.”

“Some people, the report noted, “are likely to buy an SUV to help them through the erratic weather to come” for example, rather than support fuel-efficiency standards.”

The Denier Credo

The Denier Credo

1) The Earth HAD been warming. And it stopped. And it also warmed from 1909 to 1945 and stopped for almost 35 years and cooled some. And it also warmed to about 1878 and also stopped and then cooled.
2) CO2 acts as a green house gas, and the amount of CO2 is increasing, and has increased a lot since 1998 with no effect on temperature

3) If Humans are causing climate change, it is very selective and tends to coincide with the AMO cycle.

4) This small amount of warming will cause fanatical people to squander trillions of dollars trying to prevent the same warming/cooling that has occurred in the past in a similar form to the AMO. This insane response to natural fluctuation is causing net economic harm and increase human suffering by replacing nuclear and coal power with tree burning power plants (which produce way more CO2) and bird chopping wind turbines and filthy rare earth contaminated solar panels.

5) The natural warming after the Little Ice Age is a good thing.

Wood-burning power plants emit more pollution per megawatt than coal plants

This is a total tragedy caused by environmentalists who are dangerously stupid.

“Power plants that burn wood to produce electricity emit comparatively more pollution than modern coal-fired power plants, according to a group that advocates tougher rules on the growing biomass-power industry.

The issue is relevant in Kentucky because of a proposed wood-burning power plant near Hazard, called ecoPower Generation, the state’s first.

In a study released early Wednesday, the Massachusetts-based Partnership for Policy Integrity said wood-fired plants are not as clean as advocates claim, putting more carbon dioxide and other pollutants into the atmosphere than coal or natural-gas plants when judged on the ratio of pollution to energy produced.

For example, biomass plants emit nearly 50 percent more carbon dioxide — which traps heat in the atmosphere — per megawatt hour of electricity produced than coal plants, the study concluded. “

“”What emerges from our analysis is a picture of an industry that despite loudly and continually proclaiming itself clean and green, is in many respects still one of the dirtiest corners of the energy industry, an industry where avoidance of pollution restrictions is tolerated, and even encouraged, by state and federal regulators,” the report said.”

Despite industry “standards” that “underestimates hydrochloric acid emissions” the company went ahead and made up their own.

” ecoPower went a step further — that it “invented” its own standards to estimate total emissions of hazardous pollutants. Its level of emissions would have been higher even using the suspect industry standards, the report said”

Climate Change is Omnipresent

The IPCC teaches us that Climate Change is everywhere omnipresent.

In every place on earth Climate Change is present.

Climate Change in the Jungles.

Climate Change is in the Arctic.

Climate Change is in the deep oceans.

Climate Change is on the prairie.

Climate Change is on the highest mountain glaciers.

Climate Change is in the Antarctic.

Climate Change is on the sea surface.

Climate Change is in the forests.

Climate Change is in the clouds and the sun and the earthquakes and volcanoes.

Nothing can elude Climate Change.

Climate Change is God.

Climate change will impact everything everywhere

According the Australian Broadcasting Corporation:

Climate change will impact everything everywhere

Now that’s a cult for you.

a warming world is already wreaking havoc

I was sitting on my neighbors back porch in the sun drinking good coffee and eating fresh baked goods and I thought to myself: “I can’t handle anymore of this havoc being wreaked upon me” and then I realized that if climate change is causing everything, it is also causing nice pleasant warm weather perfect for drinking coffee and relaxing in while fresh baked goods are consumed.

And I do welcome perfect spring days … so I thanked “Climate Change” with a little prayer and asked “Climate Change” to wreak some more havoc. And it did. Yum.

Great Bay Wind Project: May Be Biggest Man-Made Killer of Bald Eagles Ever

I hate writing about these stories, but people should know whats going on.

“(Washington, D.C., March 28, 2014) American Bird Conservancy, one of the nation’s leading bird conservation organizations, is calling for a detailed reanalysis of a proposed wind power facility in Maryland that could prove to be the single most deadly project for bald eagles in the Americas. The Great Bay Wind Project is proposed to be located in Somerset County, Maryland, near the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. “

The sub headline is: “Proposed Project Outside Washington, DC May Be Biggest Man-Made Killer of Bald Eagles Ever”

Shouldn’t it be: “Washington, DC May Be Biggest Man-Made Killer of Bald Eagles Ever

Wind Farms have a license to kill.

IPCC admits: No evidence climate change has led to even a single species becoming extinct

Finally!!! Everytime I argue with members of the AGW Cult they claim we are in the midst of a “great extinction”. I ask them to name 10 species. When they can’t name any, I ask for 5. They usually come up with one animal that has been hunted to extinction (which is horrible, but not AGW)

Old Prediction:

“Global warming is said to be threatening thousands of animal and plant species with extinction. That, at least, is what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been predicting for years.”

New Confession:

IPCC admits that there is no evidence climate change has led to even a single species becoming extinct thus far.”

Polar Bears Are Doing Fine:

“At most, the draft report says, climate change may have played a role in the disappearance of a few amphibians, fresh water fish and mollusks. Yet even the icons of catastrophic global warming, the polar bears, are doing surprisingly well. Their population has remained stable despite the shrinking of the Arctic ice cap.”

Models Suck:

“”There is very little confidence that models currently predict extinction risk accurately,” the report notes. Very low extinction rates despite considerable climate variability during past hundreds of thousands of years have led to concern that “forecasts for very high extinction rates due entirely to climate change may be overestimated.””

What Would 2C of Warming By 2036 Look Like?

Michael Mann: “our planet would cross the dangerous warming threshold of two degrees C in 2036, only 22 years from now. ” (h/t Jeff Id)

Using HADCRUT4 and WoodForTrees I graphed the data from 1850 t0 2014, and then added in 2C of warming by 2036.

What a joke.

Update: The biggest rise over 22 years was March 1976 to February 1998 = 1.193C. The 4th biggest was March 1856 to February 1878 = 0.913C.
